Patient: My name is Carlos / Carla Koumissi. I was born on the 21st of July, 1970. My skin is giving me a lot of trouble at the moment. It itches a lot. I have to scratch my arms, neck, and even my scalp constantly.

Doctor: That’s good to hear. It’s great that you’re taking care of your health. When did this problem with your skin start? Has there been any change in your environment recently? Has your skin come into contact with anything new, or does the itching get worse in any particular situation?

Patient: It started about two weeks ago. I don’t think my skin has come into contact with anything new. However, I’ve noticed that when I take a shower or when it’s hot outside, that’s when the itching starts, and I can’t stop scratching. Sometimes I scratch so much that my skin becomes red and sore.

Doctor: From what I can see, it looks like you might be dealing with an allergic reaction, but I suspect this is eczema. It’s quite a common condition that can cause intense itching, especially when the skin is exposed to heat or water. For your arms, I’ll prescribe a cream to apply to the affected area. The good news is that it’s not infected, so we don’t need to worry about any complications there. The most important thing is to keep the skin moisturised and avoid scratching as much as possible. As for your scalp, I recommend using a non-perfumed shampoo, such as Polytar, to help soothe the irritation there.

But for now, we’ll monitor the situation with the cream and shampoo. Here’s your prescription.
